Matthew 1:23 “A virgin will have a baby boy, and he will be called Immanuel,” which means “God is with us.”

Have you put away your Christmas decorations yet or are you still holding out? Maybe for some of us it give us comfort to see those decorations. Perhaps those decorations bring us warmth during the cold winter months. I have to admit that I always get pretty sad once Christmas is over. All the build up to the holiday, then the gifts, family, music, food it's almost a month-long celebration. Then we're left with just the clean up. Sure, New Years is fun but it's not Christmas.

What is so amazing about our faith is the reality of Christmas, the joy that was revealed to us in the birth of our Savior is something that continues for all time. God has promised to be with us. Even after the delicious food and parties are all gone. Even after we grow tired of our new toys. Even when our loved ones are no longer with us. God is with us. And He will continue to be with us wherever we go, throughout whatever trials we face this year. Perhaps this year has already started off poorly, be encouraged that God walks with you in the "valley of the shadow of death". Perhaps you are feeling lonely or abandoned, run to the Father who is, "close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit".
