"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11

There's a Rita Springer song that I grew up with that I absolutely love for it's honesty and humility. The words go,

"I don't understand your ways
Oh but I will give you my song
give you all of my praise
you hold on to all my pain
with it you are pulling me closer
and pulling me into your ways

Now around every corner
up every mountain
I'm not looking for crowns
or water from fountains
I'm desperate in seeking, frantic believing
that the sight of your face
is all that I'm needing
I will say to you

Its gonna be worth it,
Its gonna be worth it all"

As you've all been made aware of at this point our beloved school is closing after 36 years. As I remember the lives of various students who were ministered to, many of who come from unchurched families, it's hard to see how God could allow such a thing to occur. In the many moments in life where things don't seem make sense, I am humbled to remember that I am not God (as if I needed to be reminded). We've seen the mightiness of God turn terrible things into good all the time but when these disappointments arrive it is hard to immediately turn to praise.

Yet it is in these moments of turmoil and chaos that God breaks forth in great mercy and power. We see this from the very beginning of Creation as the Spirit of God hovered over the dark stormy waters of chaos ready to bring forth order and life. We see this in God promising the Exiles through the prophet Jeremiah to bless and keep them in the midst of captivity. We see this as Jesus calmed the waves as the disciples crossed the sea of Galilee. In all our moments of confusion we can rest assured that God still has a will and it will be accomplished. There is no such thing as defeat with the God who is able to do much more than we can imagine. The best thing we can do is pray, worship and wait on Him. It's gonna be worth it.
