"What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?" Psalm 8:4

Recently we had the opportunity to travel up to Plymouth Plantation with a group of our 7th and 8th grade students. It was a unique and special voyage that we will never forget. The pilgrims took a special voyage themselves and like most voyages encountered trials of an unforeseen nature. Difficulties never seem to come in the form or time that we expect. Life is rife with storms that can easily overwhelm us. What a sight it must have been for those brave pilgrims to finally see land.

After months of difficult travels, to finally arrive at the place they hoped would be truly home must have been something wonderful. As they stared at the beauty of this new land, they no doubt praised God. Perhaps they were hit with the sense of awe that many of us still feel every time we observe God's creation. As we travel many places this summer to experience God's beauty, let us feel and remember that God decided to take the turmoil, confusion and randomness of pre-Creation and make a home for us. If at some point this summer you feel overwhelmed, turn your thoughts to our God who is mindful of us.

In Christ,
P. Hector
