September Communion Offering
Billy and Joanna Coppedge

Billy and Joanna Coppedge are missionaries with World Gospel Mission (WGM) initiative in Arua, Uganda.

"Jesus has called us to walk with Him in northern Uganda. From here He has opened up doors in southern Sudan and even northeast Congo. We have the privilege of using the tool of Bible storytelling to share the Word of God with those who might not ever be able to read it and others who just enjoy the oral method of learning.

Greetings from the heart of Appalachia!

We want to say - again - how much we value our partnership with y'all in ministry here in this community! So much work is done! Kenneth's house, Carol Ann's hot water heater fixed, Alberta's Ale reinstalled, and the roof of the parsonage - and all done with love and continued friendship and fellowship! Thanks for the gifts you left to help finish Kenneth's house! We still hope to have him in the late fall - but with God's will and His way!

Most of all - thank you for your faithful love! May God continue to bless all your ministries!

In His love - with us! Diane and Steve Springer

Letter from the Norris and Ruth

Spoke to Pastor John a few weeks ago and he asked me to write to you in regards to our mission.  Since our mission requires less money, we thought the Sunday Communion Offerings should go to another mission.  We still receive donations from individuals at St. Paul's, and hope that continues.  If individuals give through the offering, we would like that to continue.  As far as the church budget goes, we would appreciate setting aside $100.00 a month for the mission.  If that is not possible, then whatever you decide will be appreciated.  We want to keep the mission going because people are coming to the Lord. We have been able to not only feed the body (8 food kitchens), but feed the soul.  That's what it's all about.  All receive bibles.  This has always been the Lord's mission, carried out by St. Paul's and us as your representatives.  The Lord has blest our 25 years in Mexico, and we give Him all the praise, honor, and glory.  God Bless you all as you serve Him.

Love in Christ,
Ruth & Norris

SEPTEMBER COMMUNION OFFERING
BILLY AND JOANNA COPPEDGE

Billy and JoAnna Coppedge are missionaries with World Gospel Mission (WGM) initiative in Arua, Uganda.

"We live and serve from the town center of Arua in northern Uganda, but our ministries also reach into the northwest corner of Uganda, southern Sudan, and northeast Congo. The people of this area are diverse in that many are hungry to hear the Word of God and know Jesus while others are not welcoming of the gospel. Overall, the religions of northern Africa are filtering south at a rapid pace.

LETTER FROM NORRIS
NEW FOUNTAIN OF LIFE

Ruth and I have decided to give up the construction part of our mission. We will see that members of the Board continue the evangelism part of the mission. The food kitchen will still be supported, and evangelist Elias Patoni will be supplied with bibles to help in starting up new churches throughout Mexico. The funds needed to support these activities is much less than before so we are requesting that New Fountain of Life be removed from the budget, and any special funds. Our monthly donations are, at this time, sufficient to supply the mission. Our feeling is that funds for missions should be used, and we know there are plenty of needy missions.

SEPTEMBER COMMUNION OFFERING

The Episcopal Fund supplies United Methodist bishops worldwide with much-needed support. Bishops have a very special role as they are elected and consecrated to speak to the church and from the church into the world. Bishops are called by God from many settings and bring to the church "..varieties of gifts... the same Spirit... varieties of service... varieties of activities... the same God" (1Corinthians 12:4-6, NRSV). Their role is both practical and visionary since bishops oversee and promote the church's spiritual and temporal interests.

Sunset in Africa

There is a beautiful sunset over Nairobi tonight. In about 30 minutes it will set over Akot. And in about 7 hours it will ride over the western horizon for many of you. We're approximately 7,433 miles apart for those of you in the northeast U.S. At times it seems as if we're a world apart and then other times I ask myself, what's so different?

Fisher House

Fisher House Foundation, Inc. was founded by Elizabeth and Zachery Fisher in 1990 with a personal donation of more than $20 million to begin the construction of "comfort homes" for families of hospitalized military personnel. "A Fisher House is 'a home away from home' for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful time-during the hospitalization for unexpected illnesses, diseases or injuries. The Fisher House program ensures families that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive and caring environment. There is no charge for any family to stay at a Fisher House."

missionaries_bowensCommunion Offering for July 2010

Communion offering this month is for Andy and Lizet Bowen, missionaries in Paraguay who spoke at church last week.

Lizet grew up in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, with Christian parents. She accepted Christ when she was six years old in her mother's Sunday School class. Her parents became pastors and later felt God's call to missions. They went as missionaries to Paraguay when Lizet was 15. In Paraguay, Lizet studied at Wesley Biblical Institute. After one of her classes, she committed her life completely to Jesus Christ. She earned a certificate to teach information technology while also ministering to children in the church where her father was a pastor. Andy and Lizet met in 1999 while Andy was ministering at her father's church.
