United Methodist Women - Purpose
The organized unit of the UNITED METHODIST WOMEN shall be a community of Women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through JESUS CHRIST; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the Global Ministries of the Church.
All ladies of the church are invited and we welcome new members to come out and learn about the UMW and the work we do for missions. We have 4 active circles meeting monthly and a general meeting each month. Child care is provided at our general meetings and during the Miriam Circle which meets on each 2nd Tuesday morning at 9:30am. Rebecca Circle also meets on the second Tuesday at 12:30. Deborah Circle meets Tuesday evenings at member's home and Lydia Wednesday evenings at member's homes. If you have any questions please call the Church Office.
We have 4 fund raisers throughout the year to meet our budget. Most of our budget goes to missions. We hold a fall and spring rummage sale and a Holiday Shoppe in November. An auction is also held once a year.
The United Methodist Women are collecting labels from Soups and other products. The labels are sent to Red Bird Missionary School and used to buy equipment. A box is set up near Boyd Hall.

The Rebeccah Circle meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month (except July & August). We have a luncheon meeting in the church library from 12:00 noon till 2:00 pm. June and December we go out for lunch.
The Rebeccah Circle is a group of ladies that support each other through prayer, laughter and tears. At our meetings we are led in prayers and concerns and devotions. When a member or the spouse of a member dies, we make a donation to the Expansion Fund in Memory of the deceased.
Our circle members work at the Rummage Sales and the Bazaar and man the baked goods table at these events. We also add our support to the events that other circles are doing such as the Elegant Tea, the Auction and etc. On the Sundays that the women usher, we help provide members of the ushering staff.

DEBORAH - 2nd Tuesday, Members’ homes Leader Peg Askins
Deborah circle was first started in 1976. The circle meets every second Tuesday of every month at each other's homes. Refreshments are served by designated members. Our meetings are informal. There are no dues but we do have Tea and Lemon offerings as a means of support for craft supplies and other expenses. Meetings begin with prayer. We have devotions lead by one of the members and also have had Bible studies on women of the Bible. We discuss upcoming functions of the UMW and attend monthly general meeting, also make crafts for the annual Holiday Bazaar, contribute to the rummage sale, participate in the Mother/Child Dinner as well as all other UMW events. Our group is always open to new members. We learn and share about ourselves and grow in the knowledge of God and Serving Him as member of the body of the Church. |

MIRIAM - 2nd Tuesday, 9:15 AM Library, Leader Joan Gebele - Baby Sitting (free)
Miriam circle is mainly composed of mothers of children ranging from newborns to early 20's. Most of the women are between 25 and 65. Some members work full time, some work part time and some are full time homemakers. We meet the second Tuesday of the month in the library at until about 11:30am. Free baby sitters are available and are located in a nearby room. The meetings start off with refreshments and devotions. Prayer requests and sharing come next. UMW business is discussed. Sometimes we do crafts at the meeting, although usually we do crafts at a member's house. In June we go out to dinner in the evening at a local restaurant (leaving the kids and spouses at home). In December we go to a member's home for Christmas gift exchange. At that meeting each member brings either a dessert or and hors d'oeurves to share. (Everyone knows those are the best part of the meal!) We assign secret pals for those interested at our Christmas Party in December. A prayer chain is available throughout the year for emergency prayers. |

LYDIA - 2nd Wednesday, 7:30 PM Nancy Penrod’s home, Leader - Marge Moss
We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 at a member's home. Dessert and beverages are provided. We have members who work and those who are homemakers. Our children range in age from infant through college and beyond. Our meetings include devotions and discussion of upcoming functions within the UMW. After or "break for cake" we share our trials and tribulations in life, plan craft nights and end our meetings with a prayer of our joys and concerns. Our group meets for fellowship, spiritual growth and U.M.W. business. Our spiritual growth is informal with readings or challenges followed by group discussion, always Christ centered, which help us, as women and mothers, come close to God. We have a Secret Pal to remember through the year with thoughtful gestures. The Secret Pal is revealed at our annual Christmas party, when we pick new ones. We help with the rummage sales, bazaar, Mother/child dinner and all UMW functions. Our group is always open to new members who find our meeting time convenient and have similar interests. Through meeting, we learn more about who and what we are, share our joys and concerns about our families and friends and grow toward our knowledge of the Lord. We are able to share from the heart and gain help and strength from each other. |

Verse of the Day
-
John 1:12-13
“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.”
