MEN'S PRAYER MOMENTS - THE CALL TO PRAYER!
According to Webster's Dictionary a COVENANT is a mutual agreement, contract, trust or bond. In Genesis 17 God made an everlasting covenant with Abraham that He would make him the father of many nations and give him the land of Canaan as a permanent dwelling. In Exodus 20:1-17 the Ten Commandments were handed down to the Israelites through Moses as the basic covenants to be upheld and obeyed in order to have a right relationship with God. Christ initiated the New Covenant at the Last Supper in Matthew 26-29 sealed the New Covenant with this blood. Paul exhorts us to pray for each other bearing one another's burdens; pray unceasingly, raise hands in unity of the spirit.
One of the objectives of United Methodist Men submitted at the 2010 Charge Conference was for each man to establish and maintain a covenant prayer relationship with at least two other men. This is not only is in obedience to God's desire and plan but also enables blessing in St. Paul's Men while carrying out the missions of our fellowship, maintaining connection with each other, and changing lives by bringing others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
We ask each man in St. Paul's to write their name three times on the handout available on the table in the Narthex and turn them in after the service at the Narthex or Norcross Hall. The following Sunday, there will be three baskets at the back of the church. Take one slip of paper out of each basket. These are the three men you make a covenant with to pray for every time you turn a key either into your car, your house, or at work for the next few months. Expect great things from this ministry for the prayers of a righteous man avails much! |
