This year for Christmas, St. Paul's will be presenting a prayer shawl to each of the Lakewood Homeless Camp residents. There are now approximately 70 individuals living there and who knows if the number will increase by December. The goal is to make 80 prayer shawls. The knitting and crocheting group that meets monthly is making this a focus but we need more help. We need people who can commit to either crocheting or knitting one or more prayer shawls (measurements, etc. will be given). We also need people who can make a gift of either yarn (14 oz minimum) or a financial gift to help with the overall cost. Each prayer shawl costs a minimum of $5.00 to make and this is using a 50% off coupon, which can also be donated to help us when we purchase the yarn. Before we present the prayer shawls to the homeless we will be praying over them during a church service.
